May 20, 2022: preparations for the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Unitarian State.

The date of May 20, 1972, marks the birth of the United Republic of Cameroon, on this occasion patriotism and living together is put forward by the Cameroonian State for the celebration of the 50th national holiday that will take place on May 20, 2022.

The theme of this 50th edition of the National Day is: « Defence and security forces at the service of the people, for the preservation of social peace and national cohesion, pledge of the emergence of Cameroon ».


As usual, the Ministry Of Youth Affairs And Civic Education organized a series of activities throughout the Cameroonian territory to emphasize these values of unity dear to Cameroon.


the Minister Of Youth Affairs And Civic Education H. E. Mounouna Foutsou kicked off the festivities on 10 May at the Omnisports stadium in Yaoundé.


On the agenda :

– the 50-year district of national unity (history of the National Day of Cameroon for 50 years, socio-educational exchanges, a gala evening, by cultural performances of artists/musicians/humorists; selected over the last fifty years, etc);

– the neighborhood of cheaper living (promotion of « made in Cameroon », exhibitions/ventes promotional sales of essential products, gastronomic fair, etc.);

– the neighborhood « military/Nation » (civil-military activities, citizenship awareness);

– the neighborhood of citizenship and national integration (citizenship quiz, citizenship pathway, diaspora entrepreneurship days etc).

– the campaign to display civic messages and consolidate national integration, and raising awareness of civic values, Patriotic and Living Together;

– a poster and awareness campaign on the fight against social scourges (Use and marketing of drugs, violence in socio-educational environments, indecent attacks through images and messages on social media, etc).


The civil parade will take place on 19 May in the ten regions of the country and will be punctuated by patriotic songs and choreographed ensemble movements. Indeed, this general rehearsal precedes the civil parade that will be marked at the Boulevard du 20 Mai in Yaoundé by the passage of a special opening bouquet of the event.


Besides the actors of the civil parade, those of the military parade are also preparing.

In this wake, the Presidential Guard, the Air and Land Forces, the National Fire Brigade, the National Navy, police officials and of the Customs accentuate the trainings.


These activities will be conducted in accordance with government measures against Covid-19.

United forever! It is under this sign that Cameroonians will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the unitary state of Cameroon on May 20.
